Reverse Engineered Progress 3!

 Me again! I just realized as I was writing this that it's already 12am in Calgary but I have a severe issue with remembering the time change so please accept this apology for being a little late. 

Progress! It's happening! Finally! This week I modelled the screws, little bits and almost all of Side B. I'm so close to being finished and I'm pretty amped. I need to make the sticker for the outside of the cassette, which I think might be easier to do in Illustrator if I can figure out a way to get it into Rhino and then just the two spools that hold the tape. I'm not sure how to approach modelling the wound up tape on the spool so I think thats going to be question hour, but after that FIN! (Can you tell I'm feeling extra exclamation pointy rn?) 

Heres some progress pics from this week, I think this is going to look sick once it's rendered in clear plastic. I'm also on a bit of a roll right now so I might edit this as I keep going and add more pics.

 Ok remember when I said you could put checker on checker and never visually offend anyone? I am here to provide solid evidence that is not always true. To be fair, it depends on how sensitive your eyes are and honestly, if you can handle the Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake denim on denim situation I think you will be ok.  Last week I met with Nadia and Joey (they are both so wonderful!!) and we chatted about patterns and our program. Joey suggested that I combine a sketch based off of a stack of wood that was heavy on perspective with the pigeonhole sketch which had all the funky shapes inside and see what the outcome was. Surface Design is a Girl's Bestfriend

 That was a complete and utter lie, I love pattern and it is truthfully a loyal pal however, in the arena of Danielle Makes Pattern  it's less of an arena and more of a graveyard. I've put a lot of thought into this dilemma, I've decided the sole reason I struggle so hard with pattern is because I'm having a very steamy affair with checkers. Is it because little cubes side by side are soothing no matter how perfect the corners? Is it because it looks good in any colour? Is it because it's so subtle that you can wear it head to toe and no one will be visually offended? I don't know and neither does my therapist. So I'm sure you will giggle when you see the photos I took for inspo. Micro Measurements Mega Migraine: Rev Engineered Progress

 I am here to report that taking a thousand measurements at 0. mm might impair your vision and will definitely give you a migraine. But alas, I have something embarrassingly unsubstantial to show for it. Patience is a virtue people!  In hindsight I really wish I scoped out a regular size cassette because boy oh boy taking the measurements on this microcassette has got me feelin' like hangman.  I started off trying to get the cassette apart, the label is placed over the screw casings so I only saw two out of the four and tried to pry the bottom half apart with a flathead screwdriver. The remaining two screws definitely did their job because it would not budge, it took me a solid hour before I realized there were two hidden screws. After that whole debacle I began recording measurements for Side A of the cassette, but there were just too many tiny parts and I got incredibly confused by my drawing so I decided the solution was full force ahead into Rhino.  After spending way too much
