Finale!

I know Bryan said it in class last week, but boy did the end of the semester smack me in the face. I feel a little beat up from the blow honestly... I was starting to find my groove with Rhino and now I'm feeling a bit butt hurt there won't be anymore Bryan classes. RIP me graduating before I could take 3rd year OBDF :-(

Here's a bit of a recap of the semester à la Danielle. First on the list we got Villa Cavrois - I nerded out pretty hard on that project so I will spare you the rant this time. Check the link if you want to re-read why you should have a hard-on for cool architecture. For a restart of my Rhino skills, I gotta say I was pretty pleased with the end result. Seems silly to have struggled with getting things to sit flush and on the ground plane but here we are now... growing up baby!

Next was the surface design project, which I also was pretty stoked on (honestly, was there a project in this class that wasn't super dope? no). Channeled some chaos I was feeling at the time into a visually assaulting pattern inspired by one of the rooms at my dad's mill (see dat link). Drawing like this in Rhino along with hatching came fairly easily to me, it was nice to be able to execute an idea like I would have in Illustrator.

Then was the Rev Engineered project. I think this project turned up the heat a little bit, but was definitely a welcomed challenge. I chose to model a microcassette which I think turned out way more impressive compared to how difficult it was to make. I struggled a lot with staying motivated through this project but I'm glad I did because it's a super sick portfolio piece (I'm looking at all you other VCD peeps... this shit sets you apart in your portfolios!)

Finally the ring project! I had waaay to much fun thumbnailing for this project. I ended up modelling the guillotine out of my three picks, and was kind of bummed that I had to BooleanUnion it in order for it to print. After talking to Bryan last week though he gave me some solutions so I could maintain functionality and print in gold plated steel. I haven't done those tweaks yet but I will defs be doing that over the break so I can print it as a late Christmas present to me!
